Free Legal Advice And Consultancy


§ 1 in the regulation of Jusshjelpa i Nord-Norge states; “the objective of Jusshjelpa is to improve the legal advice service in Northern Norway (Nordland, Troms and Finmark). Jusshjelpa has a social profile and aims to offer free legal aid to those who needs it the most.”

Jusshjelpa i Nord-Norge is a legal aid organisation. In addition to the administration, which consists of a manager and two civil service workers, Jusshjelpa i Nord-Norge employs 24 advanced law students currently studying at the university of Tromsø. Jusshjelpa i Nord-Norge offers free legal aid and advice on issues concerning, social security and immigration law, labour’s rights, housing and debt cases, inheritance, family –and infant law.


Who can become our client?

In general, our clients are people whose economic liability proves insufficient to administer a lawyer. However, each inquiry will be examined on an individual basis. Jusshjelpa i Nord-Norge cannot assist in criminal law cases. Nevertheless, we will whenever possible give helpful advice and references upon every inquiry.


Jusshjelpa i Nord-Norge is organised into these three groups:

Group I:
Prison law, immigration law as well as debt cases.

Group II:
Labour’s rights, housing and social security.

Group III:
Inheritance, family– and infant law.
